Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop is sponsored by Crazy for Books. It's a weekly opportunity for bloggers to discover new book blogs and connect with other readers.

This week's question:
"What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?"

For me that book was The Hours by Michael Cunningham. I had read mountains of praise for it and was eager to experience it for myself, but I was let down. It didn't meet my expectations, but I did like some things about it so I wasn't hesitant to post my review.

What book has let you down?

  1. Hi--found you through the Blog Hop and now I'm your newest follower.

I happened to *really* like Cunningham's The Hours, but I also read it in galley form, so it was WAY before any of the buzz started on it. (Come to think of it, it predated blogs by about a decade or so!)

I think any book that becomes a critics' darling is hard to live up to the hype, though, and I might have felt differently if I'd read The Hours *after* all of the reviews and awards had hit.

I'd love it if you dropped by my blog to check it out, leave a comment, and if you like what you see, follow me.

  2. I haven't tried The Hours. For me, the answer to this week's question was The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi.

    Happy Hopping!!

  3. Thanks for stopping by and following! I’ve never read The Hours, so I can’t comment one way or the other. By the way, we lived in Mesa for a couple of years and I remember visiting the Chandler library. I totally miss being in AZ… especially this time of year! Have a great weekend.

I've never read The Hours, so I can't say if you're wrong or right ;-)

    Happy rest of the weekend.
